About the course

Join the BSc (Hons) Mathematics to learn how mathematics underpins and describes the world around us.

Build the knowledge and skills required to excel in a multitude of professional sectors including finance, engineering, programming, teaching, and mathematical research.

This degree will provide you with a broad understanding of key areas of mathematics, with options to individualise your degree at every level. Choose to study topics from a range of options including statistics, finance, coding and cryptography, numerical analysis, and mathematical biology.

BSc Mathematics highlights: 

  • Complete a four-year Honours degree in mathematics, gaining broad and balanced knowledge and understanding of key concepts within Mathematics.
  • Use industry standard software to develop a range of skills enabling you to adapt to the constantly changing technological environment.
  • Individualise your degree content, with module options including Mathematical Biology, Mechanics, Numerical Analysis, and Statistics.
  • Be taught by research-active academics who are specialists in their field.

Minimum Entry Requirements

  • Scottish Highers: BCC (69 UCAS Tariff points) including Maths
  • A levels: DDD (72 UCAS Tariff points) including Maths
  • Irish Leaving Certificate: H3 H3 H3 including Maths
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: 24 points including Maths
  • Scottish Wider Access Programme: Access to STEM BBB
  • SQA HNC or BTEC Level 4 HNC: relevant subject (for SQA HNCs, must contain Engineering Mathematics 1)

For Scottish Highers, Application of Mathematics will be considered a suitable alternative.

  • Scottish Advanced Highers: CCD (112 UCAS Tariff points) including Maths
  • A levels: BCC (104 UCAS Tariff points) including Maths
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: 28 points including Higher Level Maths
  • SQA HND or BTEC Level 5 HND: relevant subjects  (for SQA HNCs must contain Engineering Mathematics 2 & Engineering Mathematcis 3)
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM
  • All applications to Year 3 are considered on an individual basis
