The BSc (Hons) Mathematics with Education enables students to complete a four year Honours degree in Mathematics together with the teaching qualification required to teach Mathematics in secondary schools.
The course will allow you to develop a range of transferable skills as well as Honours-level knowledge and skills in Mathematics and Statistics combined with attaining the General Teaching Council for Scotland’s (GTCS) Standard for Provisional Registration. You will study Mathematics to Honours level, and will also develop your teaching skills in years 3 and 4 by taking modules in Education.
On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to apply for provisional registration with GTCS, and entry to the Teacher Induction Scheme as secondary school teachers of Mathematics.
Teachers of Mathematics are also be fully equipped to deliver teaching material in Statistics at secondary school level. The degree prepares you for teaching Mathematics and Statistics to advanced/ senior school level (eg. up to SQA Advanced Higher level).
